Hava Nagila

Written in 1917 in Jerusalem by Avraham Zvi Idelssohn, considered to be the father of Israeli music. Idelssohn's research into the music cultures of the different Jewish communities of Jerusalem laid the foundation for the growth of a unique melding of east and west that is the Israeli musical style.

Hora Medley

Three traditional Israeli hora dances. These dances - Yesusun Midbar VeTsia (Rejoice Desert and Wilderness), Hey Daroma (South to Eilat), and Bamidbar (In the Desert), are about the settlement of the Negev desert in the early days of the State of Israel.

Hayu Leilot (There were Nights)

One of the great canonical songs of Israel. Written by Mordecai Zaira, to words by Yaakov Orland in the 1930's, the song is about the love between two Halutzim – early settlers in the days long before the Jewish state – in the Galilee section of Palestine.

Hofim (Beaches)

Written in 1943 by Nahum Heyman to words by Natan Yonatan, the song tells of the meeting of the river to the sea, and the longing it represents.

Erev Ba (Evening falls)

This song is the melody for one of Israel's most popular and beautiful folk dances. It was written by Arye Levanon, with words by Oded Avishar. The song tells of the beauty of the evening on the hills of the Galilee, as the herd of sheep return from pasture.

Hassidic Medley

No Jewish wedding collection is complete without a bit of klezmer. These are some of the best-known Hassidic melodies, finished off with My Yiddishe Momme.
